Churn, refunds, offerings and LTV
See why subscriptions end, the refund rate, which RevenueCat offering sells, realised lifetime value by month and credit pack sales.
These screens explain where subscription revenue goes and what each customer is worth. They read RevenueCat’s sales; sandbox is always left out.
Open them
- Phone: Margin tab → Subscriptions → Churn · Refunds, LTV · Credit packs or Offerings.
- On the web: Money → Subscriptions, the Churn, Refunds, Offerings and LTV tabs.
Churn
- Renewal rate per billing period: of the subscriptions whose period ended, how many renewed (the 16-day billing retry included). Monthly and yearly are apart.
- Subscription retention: of subscriptions old enough to reach period 1, 2, 3, 6 or 12, how many paid for it.
- How they ended: cancelled by the user, billing issue, refund, or the store.
- Cancel reasons, as the store reports them. App Store gives fewer reasons than Google Play.
- Use before leaving: active days in the 14 days before people left, next to those who stay. If leavers already came rarely, the problem starts before the subscription ends. This needs usage analytics.
Refunds
- Refund rate: refunds ÷ sales over 90 days, by product, store or country.
- Purchase to refund: how many days after buying people asked for their money back.
- A warning appears from 5% on 20 or more sales. Stores watch refund rates: review the description, the trial length and the first experience.
Offerings
- What each RevenueCat offering sold over 90 days: purchases, trials, gross revenue and revenue per payer.
- View to purchase: when your app calls
Ops.paywallView({ offering })as the paywall opens, Cockpitify also counts views and works out the conversion. Views are kept as long as raw analytics (14 days by default).
LTV
- Realised LTV: customers grouped by the month of their first payment, with the net revenue per customer at day 7, 30, 90, 180 and 365. Net means after store fees and tax; ad revenue is included.
- Switch to Contribution after AI to subtract their AI cost.
- A day shows once every customer of the month has reached it, so recent months fill in from the left. Nothing is forecast.
Credit packs
If you sell consumables (credits), the LTV screen also shows each pack’s sales and net revenue, how many buyers came back for more, and the buyers’ AI cost.
